Hippo loses to Rhino? Nope. Hippos are CRAZY. You get between them and their body of water and they will tear you several new orificies. A hippo would easily bite through a rhino's spine and tear it out.

Both hippos and rhinos are extremely massive and strong, but hippos have shorter and weaker legs, because they are accustomed to spend much of their time in the water or laying on the coast. Still, they are capable of short bursts of great speed. On the other hand, hippo bulls, just as you say, are far more aggressive than white rhinos.

Sure the Rhino has more weapons, but the Hippo is much much more aggressive, and willing to die in order to win a fight.. And that for me clinches it.. same size/strength.. but the guy thats more aggressive will win.. and this could happen when a rhino goes for a drink on the hippos turf..

very fun fight to imagine, as is every wild animal fight but a hippo beating and killing a rhino? no. while they are similar in size that is not going to matter. whoever said rhinos are not aggressive you need to do some research. there are 3 videos i suggest u all try to find ( i would post links but im writing this from my phone at 3 am lol) i believe one was a random clip on wshh.com i caught one day of a rhino taking on a whole pride of lions though i do believe they were all teenage lions. anyways it was 6 lions nd every single attempt at bringing the rhino dpwn was laughable. tbe rhino charged through them over and over nd obce he got one good hit on a lion they calld it quits. another video was a rhino around several ( over 10 ) full grown bulls atleast 600lbs each with horns and one was dumb enough to challenge the rhinos bravado. it was a stand off for a good 4 mins nd the second they clashed it was over this rhino had this bull litterally on its side lifted in the air charging around like it was a toy nd kept at it for over 5 mins meanwhile all the bulls fam nd friends didnt think twice about fukin wit the rhino. to sum up while neither of these instances involved a hippo the rhino has the same size as fhe hippo but dpuble the speed, atleast double the skin protection and one single clean pierce with its horn and its a wrap. the hippo would be lucky to get a CLEAN bite on the rhino. maybe hippo wins 2 times out of 10

If they met relatively far from the nearest lake or river, the rhino would have the advantage, because the hippo's first idea would be probably to get back to the water. This might induce it to attack the rhino if it happen to stand in its way, but its maneuvering skills would be probably not as good as that of the rhino. For the hippo, the optimal location and terrain to face the rhino would be close to the water, where it would feel self-assured and where its territorial instinct would be particularly strong.

It depends whether they're close to each other or far from. Also if they fight in land or water. If they get close to each other and then start fighting, hippo will have more chance to bite and defeat rhino with it's huge tusks; on the other side if they run to each other from distances,the rhino, like a war tank, will destroy the hippo.

The only thing it proves is that there are more hippos around having contact with humans and that they are more agressive towards them than rhinos. It does not mean a hippo would beat a rhino at all.

A hippo wouldn't stand a chance... there isn't a single factor that would favor the hippo on land against a rhino. Rhinos are heavier, faster and better equipped (defensively and offensively)... the only thing hippo have that could be seen as an advantage is its big mouth and huge teeth, but once it tries to bite a rhino's head, it's horn would pierce its opponents' brain.
